The VA Sierra Pacific Network (VISN 21) includes 6 VA Medical Centers in Northern Nevada, Northern California, Hawaii and the Philippines. Health information and medication utilization for the 300,000+ veterans in VISN 21 can be virtually analyzed by the Health Informatics Data Warehouse of the VISN 21 PBM Managers Group. This group links the 6 Medical Centers through data warehousing of patient health information. Data and Program Managers are located in Palo Alto, CA, Martinez, CA, Sacramento, CA and Reno, NV. The VISN Pharmacy Benefits Manager is located in Reno, NV. The principle location for the resident will be in Reno, NV with opportunities to work throughout VISN 21 with the Data Warehouse Managers and VISN 21 Clinical Pharmacy Specialists.

A PGY1 resident currently participating in a PGY1 VA Sierra Pacific Network residency program may be eligible for promotion to the PGY2 residency in Managed Care Pharmacy Systems through the early commitment process. Interested residents should submit a letter of interest or participate in an interview with the PGY2 residency program director. Letters should identify what the resident hopes to accomplish through the PGY2 residency and be delivered to the PGY2 and PGY1 residency directors by December 9, 2011. Selected applicants will be notified no later than December 16, 2011.
Estimated Salary is $44,522/year. Benefits include health insurance, 13 days of vacation, 13 days of sick leave, 10 holidays, paid tuition and travel to required events, office with up-to-date computer systems and paid administrative leave for conferences and educational events.
